The sky turned gray and the impending rain is up on the horizon. And yet we decided to stand still waiting for the bus to collect our luggage. As droplets started blinding our tired eyes I simply couldn't fathom the thought of going to the city on this gloomy restless weather. I've been up since 3 am. I already slept in my jumpseat during takeoff. All I really wanted was my comfy bed waiting for me in my hotel room. I have nothing else in mind.
And my room wasn't ready. And so I hear the endless subjects of where to spend the rest of the night drinking. Again, not for me. After a few tormenting minutes of waiting with my soaking wet uniform I clumsily carried my stuff in the seemingly endless maze of corridors of Marriot Manchester. I stripped naked as I carefully remove my makeup and turned on the TV. I noticed that my room was facing the courtyard covered in grass and some apple trees. Not so bad for a 24 hour punishment but then on second thought my bed was seemingly perfect and in fact waiting for me. It's only 4 pm but all I want to do is close my eyes.
I wonder if my boyfriend thinks of me at this very moment . I begin to crave for his warmth and his breath on my cheeks. This is going to be another lonely layover.
On the way back the load was light. Almost empty and the passengers were on their best behavior. In my 12 months of globe trotting this has been the easiest one. Just in time for my 6 days worth of days off ahead. This is just one of the things that I am very thankful for in having this job.
